As the leaves turn golden and the crisp autumn air begins to settle in. Ok ok… the air isn’t crisp here in Florida like it was when we lived in Washington. Its more muggy and hot lol, but still there’s nothing quite like transforming your home into a cozy fall haven. With a few thoughtful touches, you can create a home that’s warm, inviting, and perfect for snuggling up with a cup of coffee or tea and a good movie, family game night or friends over to eat all the fall baking I can’t just leave sitting around my house or I will eat it all myself. Here’s how to embrace the season and make your home cozy…
Warm Up with Textures
Layer Up: Start by adding a mix of textures to your space. Think plush throw blankets, soft knit pillows, and plush rugs. Layering these textures creates visual warmth and makes your space feel inviting. See the photo below how I switched out the rug in our bunk room and added new pillows and blankets. Color Palette Shift
Fall Tones + Accent Pieces: Transition your color palette to embrace the season’s rich fall tones. Opt for rich oranges, deep browns, and muted greens. These colors evoke the feeling of autumn and create a cozy atmosphere. Incorporate these hues through throw blankets, pillows, and curtains. A well-placed orange or gold accent can instantly warm up a room.
Seasonal Décor
Pumpkins and Fun Halloween Decor: Its never too early for pumpkins in my opinion I usually start to add them everywhere in September, I arrange them on tables, porches, I have a pumpkin pillow in my room or I add them to part of a mantel display etc. Halloween Decor, like this cute little skeleton (shown below) and my bats etc I start to sprinkle in come October 1st.
Autumn Leaves: Decorating with faux or real autumn leaves is my favorite. Wreaths made from colorful leaves or leaf garlands can bring a touch of nature indoors and really warm up a space.
