MY JOURNEY TO BETTER MAKEUP

If you are looking to switch to cleaner makeup to help improve your skin. Here are some tips that have helped me on my ongoing journey.

  1. Understand Clean Beauty: Clean makeup typically means products that are free from harmful chemicals like parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances.

  2. Start with the Basics: Focus on replacing the most-used items in your routine first, such as foundation, mascara, and lip balm. These are products you use daily and can have a significant impact on your skin. You don’t have to replace everything at once and honestly, I may not ever replace everything I use, or always pick the best option. I’m just doing what works for me and you should do the same.

  3. Do Your Research: Look for brands that align with your definition of clean beauty. Check their ingredient lists and certifications.

  4. Read Labels Carefully: Ingredients can be tricky. Some terms like “natural” or “organic” don’t always mean a product is clean. Look for third-party certifications or verified lists from organizations like the Environmental Working Group (EWG).

  5. Test Products: Clean beauty products can sometimes be different in texture or finish compared to conventional products. FOR EXAMPLE: This new to me, ILIA, Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Skincare Foundation consistency is a lot more runny in comparison to my previous foundation. It doesn’t have as much coverage but it gives off a pretty dewy glow. I was surprised at how much it has improved my skin. My pores are less clogged and my skin stays much more hydrated. I had someone at Sephora recommend this to me and she tested it on me in store. You can always ask for samples when shopping for new makeup or purchase travel sizes first to see what works for you.

  6. Check Reviews and Recommendations: Look up reviews or ask for recommendations from friends who use clean beauty products. This can give you insights into what works well and what might be worth trying.

  7. Be Patient: Transitioning to clean beauty can be a process. Some products might take a little getting used to, and it may take time to find the right matches for your skin type and preferences.

  8. Stay Educated: The clean beauty industry is evolving, so staying informed about new brands and products can help you make the best choices.

And remember that a lot of what you put in your body affects your skin. I have been working on my gut for the last year, plus a good skincare routine. I will write a post about that soon. Hope this is helpful! You can click on the image above to find the links for everything I am currently loving.
