My Backyard Fall Birthday Party

September 13, 2018

This year I decided to throw my own birthday party. September is one of my favorite months. The mornings and nights are crisp and cool. The days are usually sunny and the leaves are changing color. My husband and I have been working on our yard all summer and we just finished hanging our outdoor string lights over the fire pit area, so I was excited to enjoy the space. And those of you that know me well, know how much I love to plan parties!

I set the outdoor table using things I already owned, mason Jars for cups, black and white straws, white dishes, gold chargers, gold utensils, white napkins tied with ribbon, a black and white gingham runner and I bought fall florals from Trader Joe’s (they have very affordable flowers and greenery) that I made arrangements with for my center pieces and a few little white pumpkins that I placed on the table. I also used the food as a part of my tablescape, arranging it on pretty trays for more color and texture and added candles that I could light as the sun went down.

For the food I made a chicken & pear salad, charcuterie board , pesto and sun dried tomato butter, garlic & parmesan olive oil and bread.

Then for the drinks, since it’s blackberry season, I made a blackberry cocktail. I added fresh blackberries in each glass & not only did it look pretty but it was so delicious. In the beverage dispenser I just did lemon water. For my cake I ordered an all white butter cream cake from a local store then added some of the fresh flowers to it and long gold candles. Simple and pretty!

As the sun went down my husband got a fire going for us in the fire pit and we all sat around eating cake, drinking and laughing the night away. It was truly a special birthday with wonderful friends. I couldn’t have asked for more!
