OUR HOME

  • Halloween Home Tour

With only 3 days left until Halloween, I’m sharing some details of our Halloween home decor. I actually made several DIYs this year, such as the bats in our entryway, a cute little haunted house and the wreath in our living room. You can find all the DIYs on my instagram http://www.instagram.com/homeofuandme

My open shelving in the kitchen are always so much fun to decorate, especially during the holiday months!

I added little battery operated lights in my haunted house and it was so fun at night!

I love simple little details that make things fun but nothing too overboard. I really don’t like when things start to feel cluttered. The candy dish in our entryway had to be filled weekly because of my husband eating a piece every time he went in an out of the house.

This month has truly been magic! From Halloween parties, trunk or treat, our neighborhood Hallowcrawl for all the adults, a neighborhood chili cook off and pumpkin carving contest this weekend. I love this time of year so much! Thank you all for following along on social media and tagging me, it makes me so happy when my DIYs inspire you.

  • ADDING MEANINGFUL ART TO MY SONS ROOM

Hi Friends! We did a little update in my sons teen room. We use to have two twin beds in here, but got rid of one and added a big comfy chair to hang out in. We also had some cool rocket pictures that my father in-law had given us, from when he use to work for Nasa. My father in-law is very proud of these pictures! My husband remembers as a child the day his dad came home and showed him these pictures, so they are very meaningful. I had been looking for a spot for them in our home and above this new added chair worked out perfect. I also found the perfect “To the moon and back” artwork from http://www.sugarbooandco.com Here is a peak at his room and I also shared a video on my instagram @homeofuandme

I love creating a space that has meaning, framing meaningful photos, family photos, printing photos of the kids and their friends to hang on a bulletin board, or even kids artwork can bring so much joy.

  • Hello Spring

Just dusting off the blog as we come out of the (in my opinion) boring months after Christmas and finally into Spring! I guess you could say, I’m “spring cleaning” a few photos off of my phone. I actually had intentions to write several posts throughout the month of march, such as a “Easter basket post” “Bunny DIY post”, “Spring decor post” etc. But tomorrow is April 1st, so that’s not happening, I am just putting them all into one quick blog post.

I am very much into simple decor and less is more these days. I tend to always keep things in my home neutral, as most of you know. Since we moved to Florida, I got rid of so much, and now I have only been buying things that I really love. I haven’t been overdoing it for the holidays when it comes to decor and I really like the clean look. Same goes for easter baskets, I didn’t want a ton of things that would just end up being junk. I added useful fun things like, a swimsuit, notebook, hair things, fun jewelry, a Cuddle + Kind duckling doll and a little bit of candy.

I made a few DIY bunny crafts that I shared on my instagram http://www.instagram.com/homeofuandme

I sprinkled my favorite bunnies around the house + started diffusing all of the uplifting spring essential oil blends. Just a fresh clean home vibe going on over here! There is something about spring that makes you come alive again! The sun shining in the windows earlier and earlier each morning. The flowers starting to pop up everywhere bringing the outdoors back to life. And honestly I even love the sound of my neighbors up early on the weekends cutting their grass. (Im a morning person)

If you are in need of some Easter basket ideas to grab this weekend or maybe some cute things for a simple Easter morning tablescape, I have linked a few of my favorites…

    Hoppy Spring friends!

  • My sons room decorated for Christmas

I owe you all a blog post of my sons room decorated for Christmas. I shared this last week on instagram and I just haven’t had time to get it up on the blog! So as promised, here are more pictures and details. Im going to link everything that I can for you.

Lets start with these cozy cute Tree blankets I found for $15! All the other bedding stays in his room year round (besides the Santa pillow, we have had that for years, so I unfortunately don’t have a link.) I linked the rest of his bedding below.

I chose to put a little tree in his room since he already has two twin beds that take up a lot of space. We got this cute tree at Target years ago but I will link several other options below. I added the cutest battery operated Star lights . And a few new ornaments, like these black and white starburst starburst ornaments that were a great find from Walmart! The others I will link below and some ornaments we have collected over the years.

Cork boards are always fun, we have them in both the kids rooms to add pennants, art they make or their Instax mini pics of them and their friends. I also love the simplicity of this Wooden nutcracker .

  • Trees + Garland: How I put them up

Its the most wonderful time of the Year! Im excited to share with you step by step as I decorate for the holidays. Lets start with hanging my favorite faux greenery on the mantle. I love a really full greenery look, so I used 2 of the 6ft faux cedar garland to create this look. I then place these Command wire toggle hooks on top of my mantle, on each side, to hook my greenery and keep it in place (see photo example.)

Next up, to hang my stockings I use white Command hooks. I placed these hooks on top of the mantel so they are less noticeable when looking straight on. I went with all neutral stockings this year. I love both of these stockings, the bobble knit stocking and gold starburst stocking

In our loft I bought a 90” artificial spruce tree that is not pre lit so that I could add these star string lights to it.

I love putting my trees in baskets not only for the look, but I love that I can use the baskets year round. Sometimes the stand will fit down in the basket, but usually it won’t. For this tree I took the stand off and placed it in the extra large size basket I then stuffed a blanket tightly down inside to stabilize it. I have done this for years, the key to making it sturdy is stuff pillows or blankets tightly down in the basket around the “tree trunk” to keep it from tipping.

Our main tree in the livingroom is my favorite tree, I love this Faux grand fir tree , it has little dot twinkle lights on it, pretty branches and it is so easy to put together. I have this tree in tree collar that I got years ago from Crate and Barrel. HERE is another great option for half the price! With a tree collar, all I have to do is set the tree stand down into the collar. I then put the first tree section of the tree in, second section, third section and done. Plug it in and enjoy the beauty and magic of all those little lights!

I really hope this was helpful and answered your questions! I linked what I could below for you all. If you have a question or just a comment please leave it below. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog and don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t ever miss an update. I will be sharing more holiday things soon!
